Attention Reclaimer is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers.

Data We Process Locally

All data processing happens entirely on your device. The extension uses the following data locally:

  • Tab Switching Events: Records when you switch between tabs to detect distraction patterns (e.g., rapidly switching between social media sites)
  • Site Visit Data: Monitors which websites you visit and duration, but only for sites you've added to your distraction list
  • User Settings: Stores your preferences including blocked sites, block duration, communication style, and strictness level
  • Session Data: Temporary data about active blocking timers and nudge states

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:

  • chrome.storage.local: For session data and temporary states
  • chrome.storage.sync: For user preferences (synced across your Chrome browsers if signed in)

No data is sent to external servers, databases, or third parties.

Third-Party Services

We do not use:

  • Analytics services (Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Advertising networks
  • Tracking pixels or cookies
  • External APIs or servers

Data Sharing

We do not:

  • Sell your data
  • Share your data with third parties
  • Transfer your data to external services
  • Use your data for advertising or marketing

Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following permissions:

  • tabs: To monitor tab switching behavior and detect distraction patterns
  • storage: To save your settings and preferences locally
  • activeTab: To check if the active tab is a distraction site
  • Host permissions (<all_urls>): To monitor user-configured distraction sites (you choose which sites to block)

Your Control

You have full control over your data:

  • All settings can be modified or deleted at any time
  • Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data
  • You choose which sites to monitor
